Drafted fourth overall in 1969 out of North Texas State, Greene was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in his first season. Over 13 years he anchored the legendary Steel Curtain, twice earning NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors, making ten Pro Bowls, and reinventing how the defensive tackle position could take over a game.
With Greene at its core, Pittsburgh won four Super Bowls in six seasons - IX, X, XIII and XIV. In Super Bowl IX he turned in one of the greatest individual defensive performances the game has seen. He was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987, and in 2014 the Steelers retired his No. 75, only the second number in the history of the franchise to be lifted.
Beyond the field, Greene became one of the most beloved figures in American sports through the iconic 1979 'Hey Kid, Catch!' Coca-Cola commercial, then gave back to the game across a long coaching and front-office career.
